Good News: SNAI 2021 Alumnus from Sierra Leone, Osman Angeles Conteh, Admitted to PhD Program at Wuhan University of Technology
The International Education Center recently received great news from 2021 alumnus Osman Angeles Conteh: he has been successfully admitted to the Doctor of Business Administration program at the School of Management, Wuhan University of Technology. He will set foot again on Chinese soil in early September to begin his doctoral studies. This achievement marks a significant milestone in Conteh's academic journey and is a source of great pride and joy for the SNAI community. To date, eight SNAI international student alumni are pursuing PhDs in China.
Conteh studied in the Master of Professional Accounting program for developing countries at SNAI from September 2019 to July 2021. During his time at the Institute, he demonstrated exceptional learning ability and academic caliber, seen as a diligent model student by his peers and a highly promising individual by his professors. Known for his strong critical thinking skills, he often contributed unique and profound insights in class discussions. His rigorous approach and dedication to every course and academic challenge enabled him to successfully complete all program requirements. Under the careful supervision of Professor Li Kouqing, he conducted his master's thesis research on "National External Debt Management in Sierra Leone," passing his defense with excellence and earning his Master of Accounting degree from SNAI.
After returning home, Conteh actively applied the knowledge gained at SNAI in his professional work. Previously an Assistant Internal Auditor at the Parliament of Sierra Leone before his studies, he was promoted to the role of Senior Auditor in the Office of the Vice President and Cabinet Secretariat of Sierra Leone after graduation. In this position, he has been contributing to his country's public administration and audit endeavors, showcasing the solid professional competence and pragmatic spirit fostered at SNAI.
Notably, since graduating, Conteh has maintained a strong bond with China and his alma mater, staying in close contact with SNAI. He consistently follows the Institute's developments, actively participates in alumni exchange activities, and shares his experiences in China with friends and colleagues, helping to expand SNAI's international reputation. This deep affection for his alma mater is truly touching.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of SNAI's international student programs. Over the past decade, focusing on the goal of cultivating students' understanding and friendship towards China, the Institute has continuously optimized its training model and management processes, cultivating 249 international students from 34 countries and regions. These alumni, who hold important positions across the globe, have generally achieved strong career progression after their two-year training at SNAI, increasingly becoming bridges for cooperation with China and envoys of friendship in their home countries. Moving forward, under the guidance of the SNAI Party Committee, the International Education Center will continue to strengthen alumni relations, exploring personalized channels and methods to engage its international alumni community, refining post-graduation connections, empowering alumni to tell the 'China story' well, and supporting the Belt and Road Initiative.
