Crossing Mountains and Seas, Gathering at SNAI
The 2026 International Students' Ice-Breaking Event and the 2025 New Semester Kick-off Meeting Successfully Held
Since September 6, the Shanghai National Accounting Institute (SNAI) has been welcoming new international students of the Class of 2026. Young officials from Belt and Road countries have crossed mountains and seas to gather on the SNAI campus, officially beginning their new academic life in China. To help new students adapt to the campus environment and integrate into the institute's culture as quickly as possible, from September 7 to 20, SNAI will organize a two-week orientation week series of activities, covering systematic orientation guidance such as document review, campus safety, digital resources, thesis guidance, academic norms, and visits to the university history museum.
As the first collective activity of the orientation week, on the morning of September 9, the 2026 international students' ice-breaking event and the 2025 new semester kick-off meeting were held at the International Conference Center. The scene was filled with laughter and a warm atmosphere, as 58 international students from 20 countries, all wearing matching green T-shirts, gathered together. Among them, 30 new students of the Class of 2026 embarked on their SNAI journey with great expectations, while 28 returning students of the Class of 2025 welcomed the arrival of the new semester with a refreshed spirit.
With "cross-grade integration" as the core concept, the ice-breaking event featured carefully designed activities such as random group drawing, Bingo ice-breaking games, paper cup relay races, and in-depth group discussions. In the Bingo game, students held 16-square "personality description cards" and moved around freely, trying to find people who matched the card contents and ask them for signatures within the limited time. From "from East Africa" to "loves football," from "enjoys fitness" to "wants to practice Chinese," students shuttled around the venue engaging in proactive conversations, with laughter continuing nonstop. The paper cup relay race pushed the atmosphere to a climax. The fun challenge of balancing paper cups on heads and holding paper between knees tested not only individual balance but also teamwork. Whenever someone accidentally dropped an item, teammates would cheer them on in unison, fully demonstrating the team spirit of cross-grade collaboration.
During the in-depth group discussion session, the 2025 returning students generously shared practical experiences on topics such as coursework, campus life, and adapting to Shanghai, while the 2026 new students actively asked questions and talked about their expectations. Cross-grade friendships quietly grew through sincere dialogue.
The event came to a successful conclusion with all teachers and students shouting the slogan "One family, One journey" in unison. This event marked the official launch of the "Orientation Week" for the 2026 international students and also opened the prologue of the new semester for the 2025 international students. Next, the International Education Center will focus on themes such as study guidance, cultural adaptation, and campus integration, and will carry out a series of orientation education activities in an orderly manner to help international students integrate more quickly into the SNAI family and embark on a fulfilling learning journey in China.
